COVID-19 Safety Plan
As required by the Ministry of Labour, we have created our COVID-19 Safety Plan. Our initial plan was created in December of 2020. Please see below under the PDF links.
Ministry of Labour Directive
In order to be fully in compliance with the Ministry of Labour mandated protocols around COVID-19, we have had to implement a few specific directives at our Office/Shop and on sites. The following information details how we are ensuring we are following all of the directives as required.
Policy Adjustments
Effective immediately, everyone who comes into the office will be required to fill out the COVID-19 screening form located right by the front door (A copy can be found at the bottom of this web page as well).
This includes all visitors and staff who come in to work each and everyday. Everyone is required to complete one in order to be allowed into the office everyday. These forms will be stored and tracked by our Health & Safety Manager.
Covid-19 Response
On Site Expectations
The benefit of being in our industry is that we are outdoors and our frontline staff (generally) do not work within an unsafe distance with their colleagues. This does not preclude our staff from being in potentially harmful situations where they could be exposed to the virus.
Our roofers are expected to follow all PPE requirements pertaining to their job as before with the additional requirement of using a face covering or mask if they are going to be working within 6 feet of each other and when they are driving in a vehicle with their colleagues to and from a job site.
Each Foreman has been given and will continue to be supplied with facemasks and hand sanitizer and each worker who has a company vehicle is expected to wipe down common areas of their vehicles where multiple workers may have been in contact with (handles, knobs, switches, etc.). As well, any machinery on a site that may be used by more then one worker is to be sanitized if the previous worker was not wearing gloves while operating it.
Office & Shop
The office environment has the potential added risk of visitors and delivery men and women dropping by. Given the recent surge in 2nd wave infections, we have instituted a policy where any and all visitors to the office MUST wear a face covering or mask.
As well, the doors from our shop to the office are no longer to be used by our frontline staff and by delivery drivers without first calling in to reception. This policy change has come about as a result of several delivery drivers violating our facemask requirement as well as the increase in cases in the Province of Ontario. In order to continue to have a COVID-free office that has remained open throughout the pandemic, visitors and outside staff are to use the courtesy phone with a list of extensions that have been left for them to use to contact office staff for assistance.
